This cool soap was made by a first time soap maker who came into our soap bar.  Sarah made this cool wine soap.  It has a bottle, the grapes and a nice little border.  Beautiful!

Pre School Field Trip To Opal'z!

We had a fun soap making field trip this week with the Butterflies (4 and 5  year olds) from Footsteps Preschool in Menlo Park.   The kids were so well behaved and very engaged in the projects!  They made 3 great soaps each and they were all so proud of their beautiful creations.  Super teachers Abby and Tina and a couple of creative moms made it really easy and so fun for all.  Thanks for coming Footsteps Butterflies!  We look forward to more field trips and another visit from Footsteps soon!

Wedding Favor Soaps

We had a family wedding shower where we made these wedding favors. It is a piece of dissolving paper stamped with gold ink that says "love" in Chinese characters inside a bar of clear soap. Very pretty and personal.

New Year'z Opal'z Newz

We had lots of soap making parties and drop in soap makers from toddlers to Grandmas all through November and December. Lots of fun and happy soap crafting. The soaps made were great gifts, but even 4 year old Tommy had to come back and make one bar of soap just for himself. His parents had gifts in mind for every bar he made their first trip and he wanted his own.

We still have Dakota working at the soap bar or parties as well as Eladia and Christine helping with everything especially trying to keep me organized. One of our biggest kids is Eric, The Soap Helper. He is so fun and adds to the whole experience with his enthusiasm. We all joke that we are going to make him a big bubble suit to go around Midtown and drum up more business! Keep your eyes out around Midtown -- you never know if you might see a happy bubble man!

We do need more business -- we are so hidden. I have had great write-ups in the Midtown e-News, Shop Talk in the Palo Alto Weekly, mentions in the PAMP Parents club, Absolutely in the Palo Alto Daily and because of that and folks say it's such a great idea, people think we are busy. Some days we are busy, but more often than not we are not making it. Please call ahead and come make your own personalized handcrafted all vegetable glycerin soap!

More classes coming in the New Year! We did a few last year and we'll continue and add more! Planned now is Skin Care and Natural Make-up for Teens (that one will be monthly!), Natural Everyday Make-up for Anyone, Cold Process Soap Making, Lotion Crafting, Confetti Soap Loaves, Linen Spray, Loofah Soap, Bridal Make-up, Professional Make-up (with models and a photographer), and more luxury spa products.

Check the calendar and if you don't see what you like.... just e mail me and I'll arrange it if I can!

Here's Grelia Riebar (soon to Smith as she marries my long time friend Clark next week) teaching the Lotion Crafting class in the Fall.

Fall Craft Classes

Craft classes in full swing at Opal’z.

We already had the lotion crafting class and learned how to make lotion with all vegetable oils, waxes and butters. So fun and really easy to make.

Right here in Midtown Palo Alto. Check our class schedule for Linen Spray, massage oils, bath bombs, peppermint foot balm, spa quality gift sets. Lots of great gift ideas that you can make yourself

Here is Grelia teaching us to make lotion. What a gift! Who knew they could make their own??!!!

Upcoming classes – cold process soap making. Yes… this is the kind of soap that Grandma made (mixing lye with oils) but we use all vegetable oils and fresh scents.

Also a loaf soap making class where we learn how to make the popular soaps that are sliced and the items placed inside get sliced, too. Big sellers!

And three make-up classes in November and December. Some demo and some hands on. Learn to do make-up with natural make-ups or specific needs. Check our calendar or e mail annie@opalzoap.com
